A stimulating effect

Coffee's reputation is built on its stimulating and exciting action. Indeed, caffeine makes vigilance last longer and strengthens resistance to fatigue. A few cups of coffee repel the feeling of weariness during intellectual work, or during repetitive tasks.

Good for headache

The antimigraine action of coffee is notorious. Cerebral vasoconstrictor, it very quickly decreases the duration and intensity of migraine. Caffeine potentiates the effects of paracetamol, aspirin or ergot rye when combined, resulting in a more powerful analgesic effect.

Helping for losing weight

Caffeine is a substance that consumes energy. Under its control, all basic functions such as breathing, intellectual activity, posture, etc. increase their energy expenditure by 16%. Caffeine is currently found in the composition of many anti-cellulite creams for its draining and firming effect. In addition, coffee is a low-calorie drink as long as you do not add sugar, of course.

Good for digestion

It is recommended to drink Coffee after the meal. Caffeine acts on the secretion of saliva from digestive enzymes. Intestinal transit is thus facilitated. Be careful, however, for those who suffer from diseases of the stomach and esophagus, because it is not recommended to them.

For better sports performance

Caffeine acts on physical results, in addition to promoting alertness, it increases the heart rate and mobilizes lipids in adipose tissue, as a main source of energy during sports efforts. This leads to an economy in muscle glycogen reserves and delays the onset of fatigue. It also acts at the level of muscle contraction which becomes stronger. It only takes two to three cups of coffee to benefit from these effects, no need for the athlete to swallow liters for a competition.

Against cancers

Several studies highlight the link between high coffee consumption and a risk of developing different types of cancer. Thus, according to a study published in 2011, the risks of developing prostate cancer are reduced by 18% in men who drink coffee. The components of coffee appear to improve insulin sensitivity as well as its level, suggesting that this has a link to the progression of prostate, breast, colorectal, pharyngeal, esophagus, pancreas and bladder cancer.

Good for the Heart

Coffee consumption can momentarily raise blood pressure, but scientific studies reveal that the components of coffee lower blood pressure over the long term, decrease the risk of developing cardiovascular disease and could reduce the risk of developing a heart attack. This result is, it seems, due to the beneficial action of chlorogenic acid on the arteries. Thus, the risk of dying from cardiovascular disease is 24% lower among women who drink between one and three cups of coffee daily. Even better, studies have shown that regular coffee consumption improves good cholesterol and decreases coronary calcification.

Good for the liver

Researchers found that the risk of developing cirrhosis of the liver could be greatly decreased by coffee consumption. People who drink four cups a day have an 84% lower risk according to a study published in the Annals of Epidemiology. This is in line with the result of another 8-year study of 120,000 people that showed that each cup of coffee daily reduces the risk of dying from cirrhosis by 23%. Patients with hepatitis B or C have also been shown to be less likely to develop non-alcoholic cirrhosis if they are coffee lovers.

Against cognitive decline

The risk of developing Alzheimer's disease increases with age. Promising studies have shown that a high daily consumption of coffee with caffeine decreases the risk of developing Alzheimer's disease or dementia later in life. In 2011, scientists concluded after much research that coffee was likely the best source of caffeine to combat cognitive decline. It seems that another component of coffee, unknown for the moment, acts synergistically with caffeine to increase the level in the blood of a factor associated with the improvement of cognitive functions in the context of Alzheimer's disease. The caffeine in coffee has also been linked to protection against Parkinson's disease, the most common neurodegenerative disorder after Alzheimer's.
